To celebrate our second year we return to our first Venue the Croft and are delighted to welcome back R+R favourite, DR SYNTAX aka Benny Huge, along with more UK heavyweights.

Hailing from the world-renowned hip-hop hotbed of rural Oxfordshire, rapper DR SYNTAX is a well-known figure in the underground British hip hop scene. His knack for witty social commentary, self-deprecating humour and intelligent wordplay, all delivered with his trademark charismatic style and bass-rich vocal tone, have earned him a legion of die-hard fans throughout the UK and beyond.

PETE CANNON (a.k.a. Mr. Dick) is a UK hip hop producer, DJ and vocalist. He is a member of Surreal Knowledge and Tactical Thinking.
He is originally from Blackpool and currently spends a lot of time in Manchester, Chester and London. He has worked with Dr Syntax, Stig of the Dump, Magestik Legend, Kyza, Foreign Beggars, Yogi, Sonny Jim, Deadline and Jim Raygun and Kid Genius amongst many more.

Greasy Vinyl’s GV ClIK will also make their Bristol debut, The individual MC’s of Jman, Sleaze, Gramz and Bonez team up to bring hard hitting lyricism over raw beats. Check the videos if you haven’t seen…

As usual R+R resident DJ Fingerfood will be on the ones and twos.

Come and join us to celebrate our second birthday for only Five English Pounds. Thank you for supporting independent hip hop in Bristol.

[Bristol] GZA (of Wu-Tang Clan) + Special guests, Skitz and Rodney P + more! – Saturday, 18 February

Rhyme and Reason are delighted to announce the arrival of GZA the Genius + SPECIAL GUESTS!
The legend and founding member of the seminal Wu-Tang Clan comes to Bristol showcasing his impending new album Liquid Swords 2: Return of the Shadowboxer. Come and see the artist responsible for such groundbreaking albums as ‘Words from the Genius’ and ‘Liquid swords’ play Bristol for the last show on his 2012 European tour. Born and bred in Brooklyn NYC, GZA has a discography of both Wu-Tang Clan and solo projects dating back to 1991, GZA is genuinely one of the most raw and thought provoking emcee’s that has ever lived.

Joining Gza and his special guests are two pioneers of UK hip-hop. SKITZ and RODNEY P have played shows all over the world. Albums such as ‘Countryman’ and ‘The Future’ have cemented the duo as the godfathers of the UK scene. These veterans put on a show that is truly not to be missed.

Spearheading Bristol’s musical revival right now are the Split Prophets. Fresh off their ‘Scribbled thoughts’ e.p launch, SP are rising to the top of the scene because of smart and hard-hitting lyricism twinned with the dynamic production of Krate Krusaders. In case you haven’t heard check the links below to this collective of several of Bristol’s finest emcee’s.

The Scribes are a new-wave hip-hop 4-piece consisting of lyricists ill-iterate and Loki Steele, along with beatboxer Maestro Lacey. Hailing from Bristol and Plymouth, The Scribes unique sound has been earning them rave reviews across the country.

“Genuinely memorable, The Scribes could be what UK Hip-Hop has been looking for” – Hip-Hop Connection magazine.
