The Bassment: Lyricist Night – The Ruby Lounge – 24TH FEBRUARY 2011

Official Website –
Official Facebook Page –

“Why don’t you create your own? Start your own night, spawn your own live circuit” was the response we received after telling a radio plugger that there wasn’t a real Hip Hop scene in Manchester nor a regular night for MCs to appear at. So that is exactly what we have done and now ‘The Bassment: Lyricist Night’ is born.

Our aim is to frequently host a live night dedicated to UK Hip Hop where artists from around the country come to show their skills without worrying about watered down rubbish and commercial viability.

Each night will feature live sets from Hip Hop artists coming in from all around the UK. A night for real lyricists and poets to linguistically tear up the venue as the DJs bring down the house with the best beats going.

The night has been put together by independent Manchester Record Label, Foundation Rekords and will be hosted by us, F.O.A.K, the label’s resident artists.

Nice one, we hope you enjoy.

Live and direct from New York, the legendary member of the Wu Tang Clan, Raekwon The Chef comes to Manchester for what promises to be an amazing show! From his verses on Wu classics such as Cream or Protect Ya Neck to his solo anthems such as Incarcerated Scarfaces, Criminology or House of Flying Daggers, it’s easy to see why he’s regarded by true Hip Hop fans as one of the top MCs of the last 20 years.

On March 8 he’s releasing his hugely anticipated new LP Shaolin vs Wu Tang, with production from the likes of Kanye West and Pete Rock, and collaborations with Nas and Eminem amongst others.

Support comes from local legends Broke’n’£nglish, known for their amazing live show, as well as the Juicy DJs.

Tickets are only £13 in advance, get one asap as the show is likely to sell out.

[London] Grand District presents Ear Gasm with DJ 279 – Saturday 5th February @ Life Bar

[London] Grand District presents Ear Gasm – Saturday 5th February @ Life Bar

Facebook event –

Location: Life Bar, 2-4 Old Street, London EC1V 9AA

A brand new edition to London’s underground night life is set to create a beautiful cocktail of fusions in classic Hop Hop, funk Boogie, Disco and future House.

For our launch night of Saturday 5th February we thought we kick things off by injecting some UK rep London’s own DJ 279 from Choice FM. Himself, a seasoned player and stalwart of the UK Hip Hop scene. We also welcome Johnny Reckless of Colourful radio who brings the Boogie, an eclectic mix is to be expected from Marcia Carr recently recovered from her blistering new year eve stint at Good Times (with LadyBugz) and Carol G will be opening the show with some specials from the vaults.
On PA duties Galaxy High drops a contemporary dose of Hip Hop for the heads, as Grand Districts DJ Koto backs him up on the tracks.
