[Bristol] GZA (of Wu-Tang Clan) + Special guests, Skitz and Rodney P + more! – Saturday, 18 February

Rhyme and Reason are delighted to announce the arrival of GZA the Genius + SPECIAL GUESTS!
The legend and founding member of the seminal Wu-Tang Clan comes to Bristol showcasing his impending new album Liquid Swords 2: Return of the Shadowboxer. Come and see the artist responsible for such groundbreaking albums as ‘Words from the Genius’ and ‘Liquid swords’ play Bristol for the last show on his 2012 European tour. Born and bred in Brooklyn NYC, GZA has a discography of both Wu-Tang Clan and solo projects dating back to 1991, GZA is genuinely one of the most raw and thought provoking emcee’s that has ever lived.

Joining Gza and his special guests are two pioneers of UK hip-hop. SKITZ and RODNEY P have played shows all over the world. Albums such as ‘Countryman’ and ‘The Future’ have cemented the duo as the godfathers of the UK scene. These veterans put on a show that is truly not to be missed.

Spearheading Bristol’s musical revival right now are the Split Prophets. Fresh off their ‘Scribbled thoughts’ e.p launch, SP are rising to the top of the scene because of smart and hard-hitting lyricism twinned with the dynamic production of Krate Krusaders. In case you haven’t heard check the links below to this collective of several of Bristol’s finest emcee’s.

Droppin’ Science is back this February at the Vibe Bar with yet another big night in store. [London] Get Low with Jehst & more – Friday 14th January @ Brixton Jamm

[London] Get Low with Jehst & more – Friday 14th January @ Brixton Jamm

Buy Tickets – Ticket Web (Click Here)

Location: Brixton Jamm, 261 Brixton Road, London. SW9 6LH

★★★ ★★ FRIDAY 14th JANUARY ★★★★★

2011 is here and Get Low is back with an absolute beauty of a night to kick off the year. On Friday 14th January the Get Low Cartel is taking over the iconic Brixton Jamm with a naughty lineup to tickle everyone’s fancy, bringing people together like one happy family before our 2011 takeover gets in full swing. This will be a night you tell your grandchildren about.

Across two big ol rooms the Cartel have handpicked a tasty little lineup that trascends genres and traditional musical flavourings, we’re strictly about creating pure vibes to get low to:

★ JEHST ★ live
The UK Hip Hop legend that is Jehst – where to start? If by some freak occurance you’ve been encased in a rogue icicle for the past decade, book the next week off work and get listening – your shit just got real son. For eveyone else you know this is not one to be missed.

★ CHEF ★
For any of you who made it down to our event in november, you will remember Chef came down for a surprise guest mix. We have been mad fans of this south london badman since day, so it’s an absolute pleasure to finally have him down on an official Get Low lineup. With a tune selection that can’t be touched creating havoc on the dancefloor, this is just another reason to clear your saturday schedule.

After killing it at the Get Low Bonfyaah Special we had to get them back. With a completely unique musical styling that’s impossible to resist, The Heatwave combine party time bashment with reggae and funky. Simply, London’s best party outfit.

Funky’s poster boy is set for a stormer of a year, after single handedly bringing the genre up to scratch and to the attention of electronic music’s key tastemakers (such as the incendiary Night Slugs label which is set to release Silva’s amazing new E.P), club bangers such as “Different” have set Lil Silva apart as THE go-to guy for dancefloor wrecking Funky House.

In their own words: “The 12tone sound is derived from the diverse musical and cultural influences found in london. It can best be described as endlessly including different genres with intrinsic natural groove. Afro Beat, World Music, Rock, Jazz, Classical and other modern dance music’s such as Drum ‘n’ Bass, Dubstep and Funk are amongst the many genres fused in the creation of the sound.”
In our words: a big fuck-off naughty band that words can’t do justice by, a fresh and original sound that instantly turns all newcomers into devouted followers. DUN KNO!!

As always, Towelie, Lightning and Dashiel representing in full force bringing you non-stop party vibes, naughty basslines and dirty beats that are simply impossible to resist. If you aint movin’, you can’t hear.

★ Madboy Zimba ★ (The Brothers Grime)

★ D-RAIL ★

Expect the best of :

Facebook Event:

For the fifth year running London’s No.1 party promoters are celebrating the life and work of the incredible James “J-Dilla” Yancey but this year take the show on the road with three seperate events in London, Brighton and for the first time Manchester in association with local promoters Juicy.

As ever we have an incredible all-star line up in each city all spinning sets of exclusive J-Dilla related sets for free to raise as much money as possible for The J-Dilla Foundation and Lupus UK. This year we are joined by Mr Scruff, Shortee Blitz, Spin Doctor, Mr Thing, Sarah Love, Harry Love, Morgan Spacek to name just a few.

5 years after his untimely death from complications brought on by Lupus disease J-Dilla’s status and appeal continues to grow so we expect what is widely regarded as “THE” Hip-Hop event of the year to be even more popular than the previous 4 years in London and for the second year running in Brighton where it filled both venues to capacity and we expect nothing less of Manchester. Those lucky few in attendance will not only be treated to an incredible night of music but also presented with the chance to get their hands on t-shirts exclusively printed by Dephect clothing for the event with all proceeds from these and the door going to charity.
