[London] Dilated Peoples LIVE @ O2 Academy, Islington – Monday 27 February 2012

[London] Dilated Peoples LIVE @ O2 Academy, Islington – Monday 27 February 2012

Los Angeles-based Dilated Peoples are an iconic Hip Hop crew that has managed to perform amazing feats on the thin line between underground and mainstream. Though they made much of their name performing live on the international club and festival circuits, they are also revered for their bona fide Hip Hop classic records like “Worst Comes To Worst” (feat. Guru) and “This Way” (feat. Kanye West and John Legend). They have also made worldwide names for themselves as solo artists with Evidence’s The Weatherman LP, The Layover EP, and recently-released Cats & Dogs; DJ Babu’s Beat Tape Instrumentals and Duck Season series; and Rakaa (Iriscience) dropping 2010’s critically acclaimed Crown of Thorns album and staying in global demand as an event host.
Dilated Peoples has too much fun to stay off of the road or out of the studio for too long. They’re already laying the foundation for their eagerly anticipated Directors of Photography album set to drop in mid 2012, and they continue to tour the world year round as a group and as solo artists flying the family flag.

Led by the fiery vocals of controversial frontman, Vinnie Paz, and his venerable rhyme partner, Jus Allah, the group has built one of the most critically-acclaimed and commercially-successful careers in independent music.

One Inch Badge presents:

They’re still here. After five albums and more than a decade of touring, Ugly Duckling continues to make music with independence and integrity. While most people in the entertainment business are constantly attempting to reinvent themselves, UD has remained happily naïve when it comes to the latest industry attitudes, fashion trends, and state-of-the-art production techniques preferring instead to develop and stand by their own signature sound. “We’ve seen so many phases come and go that it all seems silly to us now,” says Andy. “Good music and top level live performance are really our only
Young Einstein, Dizzy Dustin and Andy Cooper formed Ugly Duckling way back in 1993 in their hometown of Long Beach, California. Growing up in the 1980s, they were raised on a classic hip hop diet but were especially influenced by the mostly New York-based and production-focused groups of the late 80’s and early 90’s (such as A Tribe Called Quest, The Beatnuts, Diamond D, Gangstarr, etc.)
This show is an absolute must for all fans of hip-hop and good times!
