These days, urban music artists are a dime a dozen. So much so, in fact, that it’s a wonder that any can get ahead in what is often a tough journey – especially on an independent level. But as West London-bred rapper Mystro proves, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Mystro has supported legends such as Nas, Jay-Z, KRS-One and the Wu-Tang Clan.. and recorded with artists including Skinnyman, Jehst, The Nextmen and Braintax. Everything Mystro has achieved so far has been done without the aid of management or major label backing – an accomplishment in itself. Hailing from the world-renowned hip-hop hotbed of rural Oxfordshire, Dr Syntax is one of the most renowned rappers in the United Kingdom. His knack for witty social commentary, self-deprecating humour and intelligent wordplay, all delivered with his trademark charismatic style that belies his nerdy appearance, have earned him a legion of die-hard fans throughout the UK and beyond.

✚ GENESIS ELIJAH :

Brixton born Hip-Hop artist Genesis Elijah is one of the most respected names in the UK Hip-Hop scene and has been since his emergence in 2005. In 2005 Genesis Elijah released the critically acclaimed album Deh Pon Road which featured Hip-Hop heavy weights Klashnekoff, Skinnyman, Kyza, Skriblah and Wordsmith. The album was given rave reviews with the single ‘Jah Bless’ finding a spot on the BBC’s 1xtra A list play list. ‘Deh Pon… Road’ is considered by most as a UK Hip-Hop classic. Louis J is taking control of the decks in our brand new DJ box at Sound Nightclub! Resident DJ at FYP, Clusterfunk, Music Evolution, Drum Summit Project and the Beatech Collective. The hosting duties on the night will be down to microphoned maniac MC Grey (DopeScribes), who has recently found himself as hype man for Jurassic 5 legend Akil the MC!

Main Room is the usual commercial party with DJs Boris & DS.

[Colchester / Manchester / Dublin / London / Penzance] GENESIS ELIJAH x KRATE KRUSADERS – Tour Dates

Production duo Krate Krusaders (1Step and Bad Habitz) teamed up with Elijah for what began as an exchange of beats and rhymes at the tail end of 2009, however this unique collaboration developed into a full blown studio album and is set to be one of the biggest UK hiphop releases of the year.

On the back of immense radio support across the hip hop fraternity, the label are launching the national ‘Before I Was Famous’ tour with a free London date at the Gramaphone in East London with support from DJ Mr Thing, DJ Snuff One, Kasha, Jai, Braydz & B-Mus Khalil, with a few other surprise guests expected on the night.
From the lead single ‘Doing My Damn Thing’, to straight hip hop bangers like ‘What I Am’, ‘Fuck It’ and ‘Keep Going’, the production & vocal delivery lend themselves to an era still regarded by many as the best times for the genre. Other soul-tinged cuts like ‘One Day’ and ‘Day Dream’ show Krate Krusaders can switch up the style while keeping a consistency in the overall musical scheme.
The album informs, entertains and impresses in equal measure, is a celebration of the best hip hop traditions, and is another benchmark release for these uniquely talented artists.

Dynamite Hip-Hop in Penzance have a big night to tell you about. In the past Souls of Mischief, Guru from Gangstarr, GZA from the Wu-Tang Clan and KRS-One are some of the famous names that have graced the Dynamite stage. Now they are pleased to bring down Jurassic 5 front-man Akil the MC, playing on the same bill as NYC rapper Louis Logic!

Akil’s live set is nothing short of awesome, performing solo material as well as all th…e Jurassic 5 classics! The J5 frontman played a set in Cornwall last summer and filled the club, so arrive early and pack up the front!
