CAN’T STOP WON’T STOP + HIDDEN PRESENT…

FRIDAY 19TH APRIL at THE LACEHOUSE NOTTINGHAM

BIG DADDY KANE
A New York M.C. who undisputedly defined the term “lyricist” in the world of hip-hop. Along with the lyrical ingenuity he brought to the genre, he also introduced innovative live performances as well. Kane was the first rapper to ever hold not one but two sold out shows at the world famous Apollo Theater for women only. These lives performances, which consisted of theatrics, choreography and tailored costumes proved that Big Daddy Kane was not only an M.C., he was a full entertainer. Kane revolutionized hip-hop fashion and the way hip-hop shows were performed.

Kane has endured a substantive music career. He has several gold albums, endless music accolades including a Grammy award. He also received a VH1 Hip Hop Honor in 2005. His catalogue of music consists of the LP “Long Live The Kane” that features the hit songs “Ain’t No Half Steppin’” and “Raw.” The LP “It’s A Big Daddy Thing” featured “Smooth Operator” “Warm It Up” and the Teddy Riley produced hit “I Get The Job Done.” The LP “Taste Of Chocolate” features “Hard Being The Kane” and “All Of Me” as well as a duet with the legendary Barry White.

[Nottingham] Rakim LIVE @ Rescue Rooms – Sunday 8th May

[Nottingham] Rakim LIVE @ Rescue Rooms – Sunday 8th May

UK Takeover is proud to present the legendary RAKIM!

Tickets available from: http://www.alt-tickets.co.uk/alttickets/event_ate_12690a.html

In the history of the Hip-Hop, few artists have had as great an impact on the development and progression of the art forms lyrical style as Rakim. Universally referenced as one of the Masters of the Microphone and an influence and inspiration to his peers and followers alike, Rakim first exploded onto the scene with the release of iconic Eric B. is President in 1986 with long time collaborator Eric B. The single marked a turning point in the Rap world – raising the bar for future emcees and revolutionizing the way rhymes are delivered to this day. No serious discussion of the music’s greatest performers is held without a deferential accounting of his achievements, and no serious rap artist grips a microphone without channeling some of his legend.

Rakim’s intricately intellectual lyrics draw their force from his worldly experience, inner faith and progressive contemplation; his liquid and seemingly effortless delivery – often imitated but still unrivaled – from a fire fueled by a deep understanding of not just Hip-Hop, but also the Jazz and R&B influences that have surrounded his family since his youth. His recordings – including the all-time classics Paid In Full, Follow the Leader and The 18th Letter – have sold in the multi-millions worldwide. Billboard, Rolling Stone, MTV and a host of others consistently refer to Paid in Full as “the greatest Hip-Hop album of all time” – a claim often repeated in audience polls.

Now nearing twenty years at the top of Hip-Hop’s Greatest list, the Long Island, NY native is focusing on the highly anticipated release of his latest project, The Seventh Seal. The project marks the first under his own imprint, allowing a true freedom in creative control unparalleled since his monumental first recordings. With recent tributes such as NAS’s U.B.R., collaborations including Alicia Key’s New York State of Mind, a Platinum Edition of Paid In Full and his newest LIVE album “The aRchives: Live Lost and Found” keeping the world’s eye on the one many call GOD, Rakim Allah prepares to reset the standard again.

This packed show is fully supported by and array of some of Nottinghams premier Hip Hop faculty, Including :
Scorzayzee with Juganaut and Vandal Savage, Djs Nads Buhdha, One Step & DJ Squigz.

Dealmaker & CRS present:-

SCORZAYZEE
PHI LIFE CYPHER
Inkrument

SCORZAYZEE
Scorzayzee is a Nottingham-based rapper, well known for his connection with the now defunct Notts supergroup Out Da Ville alongside artists such as C-mone, Lee Ramsey and Karizma. Known for his multi-syllabic style and political view points he caused controversy in 2003 with his P-Brothers produced cut ‘Great Britain’ – a scathing response to the Iraqi war and hypocrisy amongst the country’s elite. Many believe this to be his masterpiece. This was an anti-establishment rant against the Queen, Tony Blair, the B.N.P., Freemasons and a few other people he threw into the equation. It gained him plenty of attention, getting picked up by Radio 1, 1xtra and even more hysterically the Daily Telegraph.

PHI LIFE CYPHER
Phi-Life Cypher are an English rap group. Arguably one of England’s most talented hip hop acts, having cemented their reputation from underground hip hop clubs, today embracing their recent popularity. Phi-Life’s achievements include appearing live on the Brit Awards, touring and appearing on B-side tracks with Gorillaz and DJ Vadim and being voted Best Live Act at Kings College, Cambridge. They are best known for their accomplished stage presence, freestyles and frenetic rhyming.

Life and Si-Phili and are the MC’s, with DJ Nappa providing the beats (DJ/Producer).
